Cambridge, UK
Completed late January 2018
The new hospital has been designed to combine a highly efficient clinical layout with a stunning external appearance and set in beautifully landscaped grounds. It boasts being a pioneering heart and lung treatment and transplant centre of excellence.
The 40,000sqm hospital has 310 beds, six operating theatres and six catheterisation labs.
Building information modelling (BIM) technology was used to maximise energy efficiency and map all the building services. A clear plan of all the facilities ensures the hospital has long-term flexibility regarding the changing use of spaces. The technology was also used to engage clinicians during the construction process.
