We donated £21,000 to men’s cancer charity Orchid – after wearing pink for two weeks in December [2021]. Site staff wore pink hard hats and office staff wore pink T-shirts, with £100 donated for everyone who kept the hat on for the full two weeks. The charity campaigns for awareness around men’s cancers – prostate, testicular, colon and breast.
The fundraiser gave us a chance to talk about an important subject and to encourage our guys to always monitor their health.
Managing Director Danny Robson said: “Such a simple act of wearing pink hats on site triggered many important conversations internally and externally. Not only did we want to raise awareness of the cause, we wanted to let our guys know that they can talk, ask for help and get full support if ever needed. We were delighted to raise funds at the same time for Orchid as their work is so vital in making people aware of cancers that affect men particularly.”
