Established in 1925
1925: JA Brooks & Co was founded in London, by James (Jimmy) Brooks, who pushed his handcart around the city, servicing the needs of builders such as Walter Lawrence and Son.
1939 – 1945
Jimmy was retained in London as an essential service provider during the Second World War, repairing burst water mains and drains from the bombing raids on the city.
The growth in Jimmy Brook’s business resulted in the requirement of multiple business premises including our current office on the edge of the City of London, which we still occupy today.
1960s
The company passed to Jimmy’s son Raymond Brooks, who worked tirelessly to support the future of the plumbing industry. As a key figure in APHC he was also highly influential in the formation of the JIB, Plumbing Pensions and was a founding member and Chairman of BPEC training.
Under Raymond’s stewardship, JA Brooks & Co continued to be influential within the industry. Improving on the excellent reputation JA Brooks & Co had created, the company became the Public Health contractor of choice with the foundations to deliver major projects across London.
2001
After Raymond Brooks passed away in 2001 and in recognition of his achievements, BPEC launched a new initiative called The Life Award in his memory.
2016 – Present
JA Brooks & Co came under new stewardship and became JA Brooks Mechanical Services Ltd.
We’re following in Jimmy and Raymond’s footsteps of maintaining an excellent safety record and reputation as one on London’s leading Mechanical and Public Health Contractors.
We believe in and live out our values in all that we do and always offer our clients expectational service.
Just like Jimmy, we see gaps in the industry and step in to fill these. This is illustrated in the services we now offer and the model in which we work to.
